When labeling saliva tubes, it is important that each tube is labelled in a manner that is easily and carefully identified. Below is a sample of how a saliva tube at the Centre for Studies on Human Stress (CSHS) is identified, so that it is clear for both participants providing the saliva sample, and technicians analyzing the tubes.
When the labels have been printed, stick the label below the cap. If you are using regular labels (ie. not freezer labels), you must secure the label by placing a strip of clear scotch tape over the label. This will help ensure that the label does not come off when frozen. *Note: it is always best to use freezer labels when possible.
